Removal of Natural Gas from deposits
- The
natural gas infrastructure in the United States accounts for 24% of the nations
primary energy consumption.
- The
consumption of natural gas has increased by 14% over the last decade and is
expected to grow by over 50% over the next 20 years.
- The amount of natural gas used for
electricity generation is expected to triple by 2020
- Natural
Gas is removed from pockets within the earth using specialized high pressure
systems. The gas is typically refined on
site to a usable product.
- After
natural gas is refined it can either be partially compressed and transmitted
over natural gas lines, transmitted directly to a combined cycle power
generator where it is converted to electricity for use, or transmitted to a
conversion plant where it can be converted to diesel or methanol.
- The
use of natural gas as feedstock for combined cycle power generation is widely
recognized as the future for cleaner more efficient power generation.
